Chocolate Chip Cookie Pie. How perfect is that? The chewy, chocolate-y goodness of a warm chocolate chip cookie, baked inside flaky shortcrust pastry, and dressed with real whipped cream and hot fudge sauce. All warm, chewy and melt in your mouth chocolate-y with just a hint of orange.
I’m never sure if it’s the two kinds of chocolate chips, the delicious creamy cookie dough filling, or the decadent orange liqueur that makes this pie my absolute favorite for entertaining. It’s so easy to make, easier than making chocolate chip cookies for heaven’s sake!
I was first introduced to this recipe by a friend over twenty years ago, and I continue to change the ingredients to make it even better each time I bake it! This version of chocolate chip cookie pie has two kinds of chocolate chips – semi-sweet and dark chocolate. I swapped out the vanilla years ago for my favorite brand of orange flavored liqueur – Grand Marnier.
You can serve my Chocolate Chip Cookie Pie with whipped cream and drizzled chocolate sauce as shown here, or with the very best French Vanilla ice cream you can find.
This Chocolate Chip Cookie Pie recipe makes a deep dish pie – about 10″ that will serve 8-10 people. The pie is so rich and filling, a small sliver will do. But be prepared for your guests to ask for seconds! And they will certainly ask for the recipe. I’ve included an easy to print recipe below.
For this pie, I used a braided edging technique on my pie crust. And not just any pie crust. I mixed cocoa powder in to create chocolate pastry dough! The pie crust recipe and the edging techniques are all part of my online course How to Bake Diner-Style Pies.
One 10″ deep dish pie crust shell with chocolate braided pie-crust edging (chilled for 1/2 hour)
3 large eggs (lightly beaten)
1 1/2 cups white sugar
6 tbsp melted butter – cooled
2 tbsp. orange flavored liqueur
3/4 cup all purpose flour
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
1 cup chopped walnuts
Combine the eggs, sugar, butter and liqueur and stirring lightly until blended
Stir in the flour
Add the chocolate chips and walnuts
Stir all to combine well
Pour into the pie shell.
Bake in the bottom third of a preheated oven at 350F/180C for one hour or until a knife comes out clean.
Chill 4 hours before serving (or overnight)
To warm, place in the oven at 375F for 10 minutes.
Garnish with real whipped cream and hot fudge sauce!
